Tips to Make Brushing Easy and Fun for Your Child

As a parent, one of your biggest goals for your child is a clean bill of health, and that includes their teeth. As a kid, taking care of your teeth usually takes a backseat to homework, sports practice, and cartoons. With all the other activities they’ve got going on, getting kids to brush their teeth isn’t always the easiest task. Luckily, we have some tips you can use to make brushing easy and fun for both you and your child.

Make Brushing a Party
Simply brushing for two minutes would be tedious for any child, so crank your kid’s favorite tunes and turn teeth brushing time into a dance party. Whether you just boogie in the bathroom or turn those two minutes into your own private show, your child will have a blast learning proper dental care. Your older children may even like watching music videos that make those two minutes fly by. To make brushing even more fun, implement a reward system, such as handing out stickers afterward, to let kids know they did a great job.

Put Them in Charge
There is a huge variety of toothbrushes and toothpastes available to choose from, so let your child select his or her favorite option. Kids will enjoy brushing a lot more if they are using a toothbrush depicting their favorite superhero or Disney princess and a toothpaste that tastes like bubblegum. For the healthiest option, make sure to use a fluoride toothpaste that has the ADA Seal of Acceptance.

Have Brushing Be a Family Activity
There are few people children look up to more than their parents or older siblings. To get your child into a solid dental health routine, make sure to set a good example and have a good routine yourself. Set up a designated time to making brushing a family affair and have everyone brush together. Your child will want to be just like you and have a healthy set of pearly whites.

Once your kids learns that brushing can be fun, they’ll be running for their toothbrush every morning and night, and you’ll sleep well knowing they have healthy teeth and gums!
