What is Gingivitis?

“You have a slight case of Gingivitis.” Maybe you’ve heard us say it before, and haven’t been quite sure what it means. It’s one of those buzz words, right? Everyone has it? Or, should I be concerned?

Let us clear it up for you!

Gingivitis is an inflammation of the gums, usually caused by a bacterial infection. Impacted wisdom teeth, lax dental hygiene, food trapped at the lower point of your gums, and other contributing factors can cause it. Gingivitis can lead to the more serious infection, periodontitis, commonly known as gum disease. Gum Disease is the leading cause for tooth loss in adults.
