Pediatric Oral Care Happens in Two Places

Dr Ronald Murphy shares that pediatric oral care happens in two places: 1) in our office, and 2) with you at home. Sugary juices and snacks most often cause cavities in toddlers. These can be counteracted with good oral hygiene and preventive care.

Starting at twelve months – or generally with the emergence of the first tooth – the American Dental Association (ADA) recommends that children visit the dentist for “well baby” checkups. This not only ensures that your baby’s dental health is monitored from the beginning, but starts a lifelong familiarity with going to the dentist.

At home, make sure your child gently brushes their teeth twice a day. Pacifiers and thumb sucking should be discouraged, as that practice can lead to misaligned teeth requiring braces to correct at an older age.

Together we can make sure your child starts off with excellent dental care and on the right toddling foot! Call us today to make your baby’s first appointment.
