Furthermore, the article states that diabetes reduces the body’s resistance to infection putting the gums at risk of developing gum disease. Furthermore, when a person has diabetes and gum disease that is not being handled correctly, they struggle with keeping their blood sugar levels in check. These are just a few of the health conditions that affect the teeth and gums but also how the teeth and gum problems can affect the rest of the body.

How do we work together to keep you healthy? Routine care is a big one. When you are in to see Katie and myself, we are looking over your gums and teeth. We are looking for the signs of problems such as areas of the gums that bleed. You may or may not notice that an area is bleeding when you brush and floss until the area gets larger or the problem becomes worse. We want to be like that coach that will encourage you to keep the good work but also when we see a concern or problem we will help you put a solution into place to fix the problem. When we work together, we are helping you get healthy so that you can stay healthy. The best is when you spend more time with Katie and less time with me.
